Daddy John's Yarns
01-Jun-06
I recently received from
Arthur McArthur a copy of all the articles that John
A. Zehntbauer wrote for the Janzten Yarns (the
company paper) on his own life and the history of
Janzten, from his childhood in Missouri through the
founding and growth of the business, continuing until
1937.
I've only just started reading it myself, but I will share one anecdote from his early childhood:
"It was while living at this place (near Purdin, Missouri) that my brother and I attempted to build our first swimming tank. We dammed the small creek that ran through our place and brought the water up to ten or twelve inches deep but our attempts at bathing were frowned upon by mother on account of the mud and dirt that we brought in on our bodies and our clothes. So we did not get to enjoy it as much as we had hoped."
The document is scanned and posted here.
